Health and Well-Being

In the Autumn Term Year 1 became healthy confident individuals in ‘looking after me’ week. We created healthy lunchboxes encouraging a balanced diet. Learners carried out a glitter experiment to see how germs spread, the effects of germs and how to prevent them. We always refer to the invisible germ monsters ‘Bac’ and ‘Rus’ (Bacteria and Virus). Year 1 started ‘the daily mile’ to understand and recognise the changes to our bodies when we exercise and how crucial exercise is in developing a healthy body and mind. Year 1 were very excited to meet Pudsey Bear for 'Children in Need'.

Children In Need

In the Spring Term we have discussed feelings such as anger and fear. We explored what causes these feelings and how to handle them. We even created a bar graph of the fears in the class. The most popular fears were fear of spiders and fear of the dark. Year 1 are developing their independence and are becoming experts in looking after themselves and their learning environment.
