This term we will be studying a range of quality texts that will meet the genre of Poetry, Welsh Myths, Chronological Reports and Explanation writing. Children will have opportunities to use LNF (cross-curricular aspects of Literacy) across our project of Fantastic Beasts by looking at different types of dinosaur and dragon poetry and using different language features of poetry e.g. adjectives, similes, alliteration and rhyming words. Children will be given opportunities to create our own dinosaur alliteration and descriptive poems.
We will be studying Greek and Welsh myth so that children can create their own myth using welsh dragon mythology.
Later in the term, they will be writing their own chronological newspaper report using the sighting of a dragon in Malpas. They will be explaining information and ideas as a news reporter on the sighting of a dragon in Malpas. Children will also be sequencing how a fossil is formed and creating an explanation using this information. They will be reading information about dinosaurs and fossils, finding facts and information through a range of sources e.g. books, internet
They will be finding features of different types of writing so that they will become more confident with each genre.
In Welsh, children will be continuing to develop and build on their vocabulary. They will be learning vocabulary related to asking and answering questions about themselves including their pets. They will be reading times of the clock and discussing their daily routines. They will also be earning to read different stories and texts and expressing their opinions on what they have read.
