In the Spring Term we will be becoming ambitious, capable learners as we explore our project of Fantastic Beasts.  We will be finding out about the different time periods when dinosaurs lived and creating a chronological timeline of history throughout time as well as the age that the dinosaurs lived i.e. The Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.  We will be showing knowledge and understanding of historical aspects of Wales and Britain by investigating types of fossils found and about the history of the Welsh dragon. Children will be using knowledge and understanding to describe the characteristics of the different periods over time including the geographical aspects of the land and climate.  The will learn about how the Earth has changed over time through physical changes (continental drift). They will know some of the causes and consequences of the why the dinosaurs died

and how the past has been represented over time through the use of primary and secondary sources.  They will be using local primary and secondary sources to learn about how Beasts have been used in the circus as well as the local touring circus.  They will be using these sources and evidence to support historical ideas.

As a church school, we particularly enjoy a broad and exciting RE programme. This year, Year 4 will explore the features and the importance of St. Woolos Cathedral in Newport. This includes a visit to see the Cathedral first hand to find out about its history. During the Spring term, Year 4 will explore the values of truthfulness, compassion, perseverance and courage. The children will explore the life and teachings of Jesus and learn about the importance and the messages of the Bible .
