Year 4

Home Learning

Shwmae Blwydden Pedwar,

Miss Manship & Miss Crawley are extremely proud of how enthusiastic you are about about taking control of your own learning at home in this tricky time! Try to use; Seesaw, Mathletics, School Twitter and this School Website to access different ways we can support you.

We can see you are working really hard already. Remember to take some time for your wellbeing to maintain a healthy mind and body- make time for things you enjoy and try to get some exercise. You are all such fantastic helpers in school and we can already see many of you helping your families to work as a team with completing jobs around the house- keep it up!

Keep an eye on the different areas on this Year Group Page, we will be uploading pictures of the exciting things you've done this year so far. This may also inspire some home activities; through recapping or enhancing skills you've already learned during these fun Year 4 experiences.

We miss you all so much! Please continue to stay safe!

Welcome to Year 4!

Miss Manship and Miss Crawley welcome you to the Year 4 page of our website! Here you will be able to find out about what we will be doing in Year 4 throughout the year.

On this page you will find links to the different areas of learning to help with your school work. We will update these throughout the year, so make sure you visit our page regularly! In the areas of learning we have stated our learning intentions, however 'pupil voice' drives our learning experiences so we may change routes along the way!

Diolch yn fawr! :)

Dominos Visit (Malpas Road) 9.7.18

Year four enjoyed their visit to Dominos today! They were given a tour of the kitchen, shown how to fold pizza boxes and created their very own personal pizza. An exciting morning for all!

Llancaiach Fawr Visit - February 2018

Year Four had a wonderful day at Llancaiach Fawr. They learned about life in a traditional Stuart household, The Plague and the Civil war. The children learned how to make scented plague bags and soap, which was used to prevent people from getting ill. They took part in a Stuart medicine workshop, understanding the roles of Plague doctors, Physicians, Barber Surgeons, Apothecarys and much more.

Art Week - Dreams and Viewpoints

During Art week, Year Four explored a range of artists from the Surrealist period. The children experimented with different types of media and created a group dream sequence, using polystyrene tiles and printing ink.

Topic - Investigating Famous World Rivers

The Weather Dress by Catherine Fisher

This week Year 4 have been reading The Weather Dress by Catherine Fisher. Catherine Fisher is a local Author and the story is set in the nearby town of Chepstow. Pupil's have been exploring a role play at Sol's market stall. They used their imaginations, discussing the mystery objects on their table, deciding where they have come from and what magical powers they hold.

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the different artistic styles of pop-Art, the work of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. They explored portrait drawing skills and used a variety of media: including, pencil, felt and paint.

Miss Reese and Miss Manship welcome you to the Year 4 page of our new website! We have loads of exciting things planned; including a visit to Llancaiach Fawr, Techniquest and the Newport Wetlands. We hope you enjoy finding out what the children have been learning about this year. Keep checking back regularly for updates. Diolch yn Fawr! smiley
