Transition into Malpas Church in Wales Primary School (Reception)

Transition in reception is something we take very seriously. We want your child's first occasions and times with us to be memorable for all the right reasons.

We offer tours of the school for prospective parents on an ad hoc basis so please get in touch via the school office to book a time convenient to you.

In the summer term each year we host a picnic for all new parents and children to meet our team and start to get to know the school and grounds before the summer holidays. Then in September we operate a gradual induction to school starting with small groups to stay and play with parents, moving on to half days then full days.

If you think your child will require additional support with transition to Reception, please let us know as early as you can.

If your child is joining us mid-year we will meet you prior to enrolment to discuss transition and make a plan that suits you and your child/children.

Transition to Secondary School

The majority of our pupils transition to Newport High for secondary school. The transition arrangements for Newport high are detailed below.

For those children not leaving to Newport High, we liaise with other schools and ensure the children access the transition arrangements appropriate to them.
